Identify Priorities in Your Community: Utilize Exisiting Planning Documents

Locating the existing planning documents in your community is a neccessary and valuable step in the adaptation planning process. Planning documents will identify who and what is responsible for the services in your community, along with existing long-term plans and community priorities. 

Documents to look for include:

  • The Official Community Plan
  • Water Use and Municipal Water Supply
  • Wildfire Plan
  • Sustainability Plan
  • Emergency Evacuation
  • Land Use Plan
  • Sanitary Sewer System
  • Parks and Recreation Areas
  • Demographic Projections
