Communities Adapting to Climate Change is an initiative that aims to help Columbia Basin communities increase their resiliency to climate change at the local level. It does this by supporting communities in identifying the range of potential impacts, assessing local vulnerabilities and sensitivities, and developing adaptation strategies for addressing climate change impacts.

The initiative is spearheaded by Columbia Basin Trust (CBT), in partnership with local communities, and supported by advisors from a host of academic, First Nations, and governmental institutions, as well as community development practitioners.

Phase One (2008-2009) included two pilot communities, Kimberley and Elkford, a learning network and an advisory committee. Phase Two (2009-2010) includes three pilot communities, an expanded learning network, a technical support team and an advisory committee.
